Members of the Marshall County 4-H program are busy uploading projects online to be judged in a virtual fair this summer.
Officials made the difficult decision to close the Marshall County 4-H Fair this year amid COVID-19 concerns and strict sanitation rules, but offered a virtual fair opportunity for the youth in order to participate.
Angie Smith from the Marshall County Purdue Extension Office said participants are taking pictures of projects with a description and uploading them to a fair entry website to be judged in July. The projects need to be submitted before July 12 to be considered for judging. Exhibitors with livestock will be able to take a video of their work with the animals, similar to what they would do if they were at the fair. Judges will then review all of the projects the week of July 20.
Selections will be made for the Indiana State Fair which will be a virtual event as well. Livestock judging will be done in person at the fairgrounds in August.
