Students going to the John Glenn School Corporation this fall will not be starting the year in-person as originally thought.
Last week, Superintendent Christopher Winchell rolled out an in-class reopening plan to the school board, but with further discussions with the St. Joseph County Health Department and the Marshall County Health Department, school officials made the decision to start the school on a virtual basis.
Winchell stated that the teachers will provide most instruction in a live, but online, format. More information on open house activities and supply pick-up will be sent out by the school principals.
Winchell went on to say that teachers and staff members were looking forward to an in-person start to school, but believe a virtual start is best decision for everyone for now.
Winchell told MAX 98.3 FM News that they will continue discussions with the health departments to review COVID-19 cases and virus spread to determine when an in-person return to school would be appropriate.
