Indiana will provide three million face masks to K-through-12 students. Indiana Economic Development Corporation Chief of Staff Luke Bosso says deliveries will start next Monday.
“IEDC, through a survey with the Indiana Department of Education, was able to identify the need for each school throughout the state,” Bosso said during state officials’ COVID-19 press conference Wednesday. “The program was made available to all public, public charter, and private schools in Indiana. As of today, we have 472 school corporations, charter schools, and private schools participating.”
In addition to a reusable cloth mask for each student, each participating school will also get 500 disposable masks, 100 two- or four-ounce bottles of hand sanitizer, and one 10-gallon jug of hand sanitizer.
Bosso also announced that the Indiana Small Business PPE Marketplace has been replaced with a new Indiana PPE Directory. That means small businesses and nonprofit organizations will no longer be able to get free supplies from the state. Instead, the new directory provides links to Hoosier companies with PPE for sale.
The PPE Marketplace fulfilled more than 30,000 orders during its two-month existence.
