The total number of COVID-19 cases in Marshall County and Starke County jumped in Friday’s report from the Indiana State Department of Health.
Nine new cases of COVID-19 were reported in Marshall County in Friday’s report while Starke County jumped eight cases to 85. Pulaski County remains at 62 cases.
An additional 541 people were diagnosed with COVID-19 statewide with nearly 47,000 people with COVID-19. The number is cumulative as most patients are recovering from the virus.
An increase 19 people died from COVID-19 from Thursday’s report. State health officials say 11 deaths occurred in Allen County between April 19 and June 22 that were not initially reported to the state.
Hoosiers who have symptoms of COVID-19 and those who have been exposed and need a test to return to work are encouraged to visit a state-sponsored testing site for free testing. Individuals without symptoms who are at high risk because they are over age 65, have diabetes, obesity, high blood pressure or another underlying condition, as well as those who are pregnant, live with a high-risk individual or are a member of a minority population that is at greater risk for severe illness, also are encouraged to get tested.
