An autopsy was conducted Tuesday in connection with a murder investigation in Plymouth.
Marshall County Coroner John Grolich said the autopsy conducted on 60-year-old Jill Lynn McCarty found that she died from exsanguination as a result of multiple thickness lacerations to the head, face and neck.
The Plymouth Police Department is continuing the investigation.
A suspect in the investigation, 35-year-old Duane Longacre, has been charged with murder, arson as a Level 4 Felony and resisting law enforcement. He is accused of hitting Jill McCarty on the head with a machete and then stabbing her on both sides of her neck in a bedroom at a Plum Street home and drug her body into a bathtub. He then reportedly started a fire at the residence.
