Another Marshall County resident has died as a result of COVID-19. In Tuesday’s report from the Indiana State Department of Health, it listed 14 COVID-19 deaths in the county. No other new deaths were reported locally.
Compared to Monday’s report from the state, Marshall County’s positive COVID-19 case numbers increased by eight to 671, Starke County’s case numbers increased by three to a total of 141 cases and Pulaski County’s number was adjusted to a new total of 67.
Starke County Health Nurse Frank Lynch told the Starke County Commissioners Monday night that case numbers are increasing at an alarming rate.
“We’ve had 65 new cases this month. In June, we had 36 cases, May we had 22 cases, April we had 16, and March we had our first case,” stated Lynch.
Lynch said 66 COVID-19 patients are currently fighting the virus.
Two testing sites will open again this week at the Plymouth Wesleyan Church and at the Knox High School. The sites will be open through Saturday, July 25 from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. local time. Any Indiana resident over the age of 12 is welcome to be tested.
The Indiana State Department of Health announced Tuesday that 734 additional residents in the state have been diagnosed with COVID-19. Another 20 people are confirmed to have died from COVID-19 over the span of two weeks.
