Two people were arrested, following a police chase on U.S. 31 that ended in Marshall County Tuesday night. Indiana State Police say it began just after 10:00 p.m. in Miami County, when a trooper tried to pull over a Toyota that was allegedly going 95 miles per hour in a 60-mile-an-hour zone.
Officers say they driver, Shacarla M. Williams, 19, of Virginia Beach, Virginia, didn’t stop and led police on a pursuit. It finally ended about 23 minutes later, when the vehicle reportedly hit two sets of stop sticks near U.S. 30.
Williams, who is pregnant, complained of pain and was checked at a local hospital. She was then taken to the Miami County Jail to face criminal charges for resisting law enforcement with a vehicle and reckless driving.
Officers say her passenger, Dante Bishop, 22, of South Bend, had an active warrant from LaPorte County for failure to appear on a larceny charge. He was taken to the LaPorte County Jail.
The Fulton County Sheriff’s Department and Plymouth Police Department assisted state troopers with the investigation.
