Plymouth BOW Approves Company for Pioneer Drive Project

A company was selected this week to do the work for the Pioneer Drive project in Plymouth.

The purpose of the project is to widen a portion of Pioneer Drive in Plymouth to three lanes to accommodate an increase in truck traffic in that area north of U.S. 30 to 7B Road.

Plymouth City Engineer Rick Gaul asked the Plymouth Board of Public Works and Safety members to approve a bid submitted by Walsh and Kelly who submitted an alternate bid for an asphalt fog for dust control during the project.  Gaul noted that Marshall County Highway Superintendent Jason Peters preferred the asphalt fog over water on the detour route on 7B Road.  In addition, chip seal pricing was less.  The total of the base bid, alternate bid and the deduct figure totaled $629,515.75 which was less than E&B Paving’s total low bid.

Gaul also recommended that the bid be accepted pending approval of the Memorandum of Understanding with Marshall County for the use and care of the detour route on 7B Road between Pioneer Drive and Oak Road.  Based upon Gaul’s recommendation, the board members unanimously approved the bid from Walsh and Kelly.
