The new aerial fire truck for the Culver-Union Township Fire Department is expected to be delivered in August.
Fire Chief Ken VanDePutte says the fire truck is currently is in Wyoming, Minnesota where Rosenbauer plant crews are assembling and installing the pump and water tank and the truck body. The truck was previously at Rosenbauer Aerials where the ladder was built and installed.
The delivery of the truck was initially set in June, but the health pandemic delayed work on the truck.
The Rosenbauer 100-foot low-profile Viper Aerial Fire Truck was purchased at a price of about $1,008,000. The funds came from the Town of Culver, Union Township, Culver Academies, and as many as 125 donors.
The new aerial fire truck will help firefighters battle fires and perform rescues from a building that is more than two stories tall.
