The Marshall County Economic Development Corporation (MCEDC) is still looking forward to breaking ground on a project that would bring more industry to the Plymouth area.
Earlier this year, the Marshall County Economic Development Corporation and the Marshall County Commissioners partnered to transfer property to the MCEDC through the sale of the land at 2809 Jim Neu Drive in Plymouth. Repayment to the county will be made once an entity occupies the building.
A proposed 50,000 square foot facility is anticipated to be built on that property. In previous discussions concerning manufacturing centers, the building is basically a shell and allows a company to customize it to its needs.
MCEDC President and CEO Jerry Chavez presented an update on the plans for the building to the Plymouth Redevelopment Commission members this week.
“We went back to evaluate the cost and design so right now I’m expecting a new cost element toward the manufacturing center at the end of this week or the beginning next week,” commented Chavez. “We will be back before this group in mid-July with some type of legal documents relative to the lease.”
Following that, construction could start very quickly. Chavez commented that a client is ready to occupy that building once construction is complete.
