Bourbon Town Council Approves Plan Commission, BZA Changes

The Bourbon Plan Commission will have three new members.

Bourbon Town Council members Ward Byers and PJ Hanley, and Clerk-Treasurer Kim Berger announced their resignations from the Plan Commission Tuesday night in an effort to reorganize it.

While Indiana law allows for those individuals to be on the Plan Commission, Byers explained that they make decisions on the Plan Commission only to vote on them again at a Bourbon Town Council meeting.  He thought it best that they follow a recommendation to appoint town employees to be on the Plan Commission as representatives of the town council members.

Street Superintendent Roger Terry and Police Chief Bill Martin were appointed to replace Byers and Hanley with a unanimous vote from the town council.

An appointment to replace Berger will be made at a later time.

In addition, Terry Clemens resigned from the Board of Zoning Appeals and that resignation was approved by the Bourbon Town Council Tuesday night.  Instead, Clemens will be a member of the Plan Commission as he replaces Bill Keyser.  Susie Schaetzle will replace Clemens on the Board of Zoning Appeals.

In other appointments made Tuesday night, Council President Ward Byers was appointed to the Marshall County Emergency Management Agency Advisory Board while Les McFarland was appointed to the Marshall County Crossroads Stellar Initiative Committee.
