Nineteen additional positive COVID-19 cases were reported in Marshall County, according to Wednesday’s report from the Indiana State Department of Health.
Marshall County now has 147 total cases while Starke County is at 39 total cases. Two additional COVID-19 cases were reported in Pulaski County which brings that total to 49.
Marshall County Health Administrator Ashley Garcia said the increase in cases in Marshall County is due to an increase in testing, and an increase in public activities. Garcia stresses that residents should wear a mask when out in the public and residents should continue frequent hand washing with soap and water for a minimum of 20 seconds. Use hand sanitizer when hand washing isn’t readily available.
She added that everyone has to do their part and use best practices to protect themselves and others.
The Marshall County Health Department has received several complaints from employees with concerns about business practices when it comes to COVID-19 safety. Officials are actively investigating those complaints.
Free COVID-19 testing for Indiana residents is being conducted until June 15 at the Menominee Elementary School at 815 Discovery Lane in Plymouth. The Indiana State Department of Health reported an additional 511 positive COVID-19 test results in the state on Wednesday as well as another 10 deaths as a result of the virus.
