Bremen Town Council Opens Bids for Downtown Lighting Project

Two bids were opened on Monday night for the downtown lighting project in the Town of Bremen.

The project includes the installation of decorative light poles on Plymouth Street and light poles for new stop lights at the intersection of Plymouth and Center Streets.  INDOT is expected to contribute $300,000 toward the traffic signals.

It is all part of the town’s streetscape project.  Crews from the Indiana Department of Transportation will do an extensive street rehabilitation project on U.S. 6 in downtown Bremen this summer.  Along with that, the Town of Bremen is working to include a downtown streetscape improvement project within a three-block span at the time the roads are revamped.  New sidewalks and curbs are a part of the process along with new and improved lighting.

Brownstown Electrical Supply, Co. submitted a base bid of $304,969.08 and Powerline Supply submitted a base bid of $299,054.18 for the lighting project.  The bids were taken under advisement and a bid will be approved in a future meeting after further review by The Troyer Group.
