More than 20,000 Hoosiers have been diagnosed with COVID-19, according to testing through the Indiana State Department of Health, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and private laboratories.
A total of 1,151 have died of COVID-19 which indicates an increase of 19 from the previous day. A total of 113 probable deaths were reported which means COVID-19 may have been a contributing factor, but there wasn’t a positive test.
According to the Indiana State Department of Health, 113,297 tests have been reported to the department.
Cass County had an increase of 78 cases from Sunday’s report as officials are watching an outbreak at a meatpacking facility in Logansport. Marshall County’s positive COVID-19 numbered 31 on Monday while Pulaski County had 29 positive cases and Starke County had 17.
The Westville Correctional Facility reported 157 inmates and 51 staff members who have tested positive for COVID-19.
Health officials say that while the number of cases has increased, intensive care unit and ventilator capacity remain steady. As of Monday, 45.5 percent of ICU beds and 80.5 percent of ventilators were available at hospitals throughout the state.
