Marshall County is the recipient of a grant from the Indiana Office of Community and Rural Affairs for a project to benefit its communities.
The announcement was made Thursday afternoon by Lt. Governor Suzanne Crouch during a daily briefing conducted by Governor Eric Holcomb’s office. Marshall County was among 49 Hoosier communities who received a piece of $8.8 million in COVID-19 Response Program funds in this grant round.
Federal grant funding in the amount of $150,000 will be used to install electronic billboards in Marshall County that will deliver community information about the county’s response to COVID-19 as well as resources available to residents. Following the pandemic, the billboards will be used to promote events happening in communities throughout Marshall County.
Crouch stated that more than $10.7 million in funding has been awarded to communities for necessary testing and medical supplies, and providing municipalities the ability to assist local businesses with relief as a result of COVID-19.
OCRA is working to develop a long-term response program with details to be revealed in the coming weeks.
