Campaign signs are not permitted in the state’s right-of-way at any time, according to officials at the Indiana Department of Transportation.
Intersections, interchanges, and rights-of-way that run parallel to highway should be free of signs. Medians, shoulders and roadside areas next to the highway are considered in the right-of-way. Boundaries may be considered by a fence line, the back of a ditch or behind utility poles.
If a sign presents a safety risk, it will be removed. Removed signs are taken to the nearest INDOT facility.
