Construction on the two-story office addition at the Bremen Elementary School is ongoing at a timely pace.
Bremen Public School Superintendent Dr. Jim White updated the school board on the progress last week. The space will allow for a secured entrance into the school and office space for employees.
Dr. White said great progress has been made on the project in the past few days. He said he hopes most of the masonry work gets done before rumors of a masons strike turn to reality.
The conference room in the middle school is also being remodeled.
One future project the school board is looking at is the resurfacing of the high school track. Dr. White said it should be done sooner than later or else the cost could sharply increase as it continues to deteriorate. It is starting to experience erosion issues and the surface is splitting. Dr. White said the most recent estimate is about $25,000 for that project.
Many of the school’s proposed capital projects are on hold until the school board can see how the budget may be affected from the response to COVID-19.
