The Reports of COVID-19 Deaths Continue to Rise

The number of COVID-19 deaths reported to the Indiana State Department of Health now totals 65. 

State Health Commissioner Dr. Kris Box stated in a press conference on Tuesday that some deaths aren’t reported as related to COVID-19 until a positive test result is shown.  The patient may have died in between the time of being tested and the time of death being recorded as results take a few days. 

Officials from the Indiana State Department of Health also report that 409 additional Hoosiers have been diagnosed with COVID-19 through tested at the Indiana State Department of Health, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and private laboratories.  The total number of Indiana residents known to have the novel coronavirus is 2,565. 

To date, 14,375 tests have been reported to the state. 

Starke County remains at one positive case of COVID-19 while Marshall County remains at three cases, Jasper County has nine and one reported death, Kosciusko County has five, Fulton County has one case, La Porte County has 11, Porter County has 27, Lake County has 180 and six reported deaths, and St. Joseph County has 57 with one reported death.  Marion County has the most cases at 1,117 with 21 deaths.  Pulaski County has yet to record its first case.  Pulaski County is one of nine counties that have not reported a positive case of COVID-19. 

Statistics from the Indiana State Department of Health indicate that the age groups reporting the most COVID-19 cases are 50-59 at 19.3%, and 60-69 at 17.9%.  The 40-49 age group shows 16.1 %, and the 30-39 age group shows 13.9%.  The 20-29 age group is 10.4% while 80 and older is at 8.4%.
