The Indiana State Department of Health is working to dispense more demographics to the public on its coronavirus website beginning Monday.
State Health Commissioner Dr. Kris Box said some of the statistics will involve ethnicity and race. She did note that 18 percent of positive COVID-19 cases are among the African American population while 50 percent of COVID-19 cases are among the White population. She determined that some paperwork does not include some data to pass along, but the officials are working to cross-reference information to release to the public that will shared on the coronavirus website on Monday, where it will be updated at noon ET daily.
Dr. Box said data is difficult to disseminate as it changes quickly as the demand for information is high in this pandemic.
In other information released by Dr. Box, the drive-thru clinic in Merrillville has accommodated 500 healthcare workers, first responders and essential workers who are asymptomatic.
