State Health Department Reports 78 COVID-19 Deaths

The number of deaths in Indiana as a result of COVID-19 is now at 78. 

Officials from the Indiana State Department of Health stress that deaths are reported on the date when it’s received.  State Health Commissioner Dr. Kris Box previously explained that results of tests are often times received even after the patient has died. 

On Thursday, 474 additional Hoosiers tested positive for COVID-19 which brings the total to 3,039 who have been positively diagnosed through testing at the Indiana State Department of Health, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and private laboratories. 

Over 16,000 tests have been reported to the Indiana State Department of Health. 

Starke County now has two positive cases of COVID-19 while Marshall County is now at four cases, Jasper County has 11 and one reported death, Kosciusko County has five, Fulton County has one case, La Porte County has 14 and one death, Porter County has 35, Lake County has 215 and six reported deaths, and St. Joseph County has 65 with one reported death.  Marion County has the most cases at 1,304 with 24 deaths.  Pulaski County has yet to record its first case.  Pulaski County is one of eight counties that have not reported a positive case of COVID-19.
