The public beach area in the Culver Park at Lake Maxinkuckee in Culver is now closed.
According to town officials, the beach area in front of the Culver Beach Lodge and the eastern portion of the park will be closed for the duration of the Governor’s Executive Order to shelter in place. That order is set to expire on April 20 at 11:59 p.m. ET, but could be extended if decided by Governor Eric Holcomb. If it is extended, the beach closure will remain in effect.
“We think it’s important to be consistent with the state’s goals to prevent gatherings of 10 or more and with the state’s closure of parks and related equipment,” said Culver Town Council President Ginny Bess Munroe in a press release published by the town. “We also don’t want to have to use staff or critical emergency personnel to continually monitor park grounds, so we would appreciate the public’s cooperation with the closure of these specific amenities. We hope that all of you and our usual summer visitors will be able to enjoy the park soon. Stay vigilant about the stay-at-home order and maybe that day will come sooner than later.”
