Governor to Give Update on Stay-At-Home Order Friday

Governor Eric Holcomb will have an update to his stay-at-home order Friday. The governor’s current executive order is set to expire at the end of the day Monday.

He says he’ll give an update during his daily COVID-19 press conference at 2:30 p.m. EDT. “We’re going into a weekend, and we don’t want to wait until the 12th hour to address this on Monday, and so we’ll give some guidance,” Holcomb said Thursday. “The executive order that we’ll issue won’t necessarily come out tomorrow, but we’ll provide some direction tomorrow before we go into the weekend.”

Governor Holcomb also disputed the idea that the stay-at-home order isn’t worth the economic impact. “That requires us to be responsible and not send kids into a classroom, not send our workforce into nonessential jobs, so that they become spreaders, so that we exacerbate this,” he said. “That’s like pouring fuel on a fire.”

The governor felt that not dealing with the virus would destroy the economy in the long-term. He recently launched a social media campaign urging Hoosiers to continue to stay home if possible and practice social distancing.
