A Walkerton man was arrested on Friday morning following a reported hit-and-run accident.
A Plymouth Police Department officer reportedly witnessed a suspect driving a Toyota Camry hit a person riding a bicycle in the area of Walnut and Garro Streets. Police say the suspect then left the scene.
After the officer saw the suspect drive away, a traffic stop was conducted, according to the report. The driver, 52-year-old Cecil Smith, was later arrested on preliminary charges of leaving the scene of a personal injury accident, driving while suspended with a prior conviction, and operating a vehicle without proof of financial responsibility.
The victim was later transported to the hospital by Plymouth EMS.
Suspects are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
