The Culver Town Council members approved a resolution Tuesday night that declares a public health emergency in the Town of Culver due to COVID-19.
This declaration will allow the town to be eligible for federal reimbursement of expenses used to fight the pandemic.
Town of Culver officials ask residents to comply with emergency measures and to cooperate with public officials and disaster service forces in executing emergency operation plans.
The order will expire seven days from Wednesday, March 25, but it may be extended if so deemed by the Culver Town Council.
In addition, Culver officials have agreed to meet only if necessary to maintain essential government functions until further notice to reduce the risk of spreading COVID-19 in public meetings. With that, Culver Town Council President Ginny Bess Munroe was granted emergency powers to approve all necessary claims, to declare essential employee status, to grant staff paid “pandemic leave”, and authority to waive all town utility late fees for March, April, and May due dates and postpone all utility disconnect orders until June 15.
Public access is restricted to all town facilities.
All employees are to reduce staff hours and reduce as much exposure to the public as possible and enable social distancing measures. Police officers will remain at a six foot distance from a complainant.
Employees will receive their normal compensation during this time.
