Emergency Management Agency Directors in Marshall and Starke Counties urge residents to be prepared for inclement weather this weekend that is leaning toward the severe category.
They say the National Weather Service puts the area in a slight risk category for severe weather with the possibility of heavy rain, large hail, gusty winds and tornadoes. Strong winds with gusts up to 50 mph are possible for Sunday.
Flooding could occur in low lying areas or areas that are prone to flooding during heavy rains. Watch for ponding water on the roads and a rise in river, ditch and creek levels. Downed trees are also anticipated which could land on power lines and lead to power outages.
In order to prepare, secure loose outdoor objects and check batteries in flashlights.
