Plymouth Mayor Mark Senter delivered his annual State of the City Address Monday night.
He highlighted the efforts in bringing in the traveling Vietnam War Memorial wall, the Plymouth Municipal Airport being named Airport of the Year, and the City of Plymouth being named Community of the Year.
With Marshall County being named a Regional Stellar Community, many projects in the City of Plymouth will be underway in the next four years. Mayor Senter commented that the REES Theater will be completed and the next phase of River Park Square will get underway this year, with other projects unfolding like the pocket park at the corner of Jefferson and Michigan Streets, Riverside Meadows housing, and more work on the Greenway Trail.
Mayor Senter also spoke of a 2020 vision in the expansion of many manufacturing facilities in the city with new jobs, plus possible work on the Michigan Street and Center Street viaducts, and signage on Plymouth-Goshen Trail that would give identification to an addition of Centennial Park in the honor of Charles O. Glaub that was established in 1970. The Mayor also envisions the expansion of the fire and police departments with the addition of new housing, and solar energy systems.
The revival of Operation Brightspot is in the Mayor’s sights as well as a video recording system to enable the public to view Plymouth Board of Public Works and Plymouth City Council meetings at home.
The Mayor also thanked all who work for the city and those who work at the level of city governments for their efforts.
The entire State of the City address can be heard this Sunday, March 15 during the Maximum Impact program at noon on MAX 98.3 FM.
