A change order will be considered in the 2020 paving plans for the Town of Bremen.
Water, Storm Water, and Street Superintendent Alex Mikel explained to the Bremen Town Council members last week that the flooding in 2018 ruined the asphalt at the Wastewater plant. Wastewater Superintendent Matt Cunningham asked if repairs to the asphalt could be included in the 2020 paving plan.
Mikel said the cost for that would be between $28,000 and $40,000. Ken Jones from Jones, Petrie and Rafinski concurred with Mikel stating that it is well past due to be done.
A change order will be presented for approval in a future meeting.
The 2018 flood resulted in about two or three feet of water surrounding the plant. The furnace, hot water heater, water conditioner and testing material stored at the facility had to be replaced. FEMA funds helped cover the cost of many of those needs.
