Marshall County Task Force Focuses on Community Awareness, Safety

Members of a Marshall County Task Force are doing what they can to inform county employees and residents concerning COVID-19.

The task force includes Emergency Management Agency Director Clyde Avery, County Health Officer Dr. Byron Holm, Health Nurse Lisa Letsinger, Commission President Kevin Overmyer, Commissioner Stan Klotz, Commissioner Michael Burroughs, County Council President Judy Stone and Council member Penny Lukenbill.  They work together to make the best decisions for the county.

In a conference call on Tuesday morning, Commissioner Overmyer stated that all of the municipalities in the county have declared a public health emergency which enables each community to be reimbursed for expenses during this crisis.  Those items may include supplies and overtime hours worked.  In an example, Overmyer said if an employee needs to be out because they are sick or at-risk, another employee will need to absorb the duties of the absent employee which could lead to overtime hours.  The pay of those overtime hours could be reimbursed by FEMA, Health and Human Services or relevant government agency.

In order to keep all residents informed, the task force and the Health Department prepared several packets of information to deliver to the Amish community by members of the Highway Department and Commissioner Stan Klotz.

Overall, Overmyer said overall preparations are going well.  He stressed that every agency is on top of the latest developments concerning COVID-19 and working together to make Marshall County the safest it can be during the coronavirus outbreak.
