Marshall County Election Board members learned last week that the county received 20 Voter Verified Paper Audit Trail Machines.
The machines will be required by 2029, but the State provided each county with 10 percent of the machines needed at this time.
Marshall County Clerk Deb VanDeMark said each voter will have the chance to use the Voter Verified Paper Audit Trail machine. It will print out the voter’s candidate choices on a piece of paper and the voter will be able to view the choices. If the voter needs to make a correction, that can be done before the vote is officially cast.
The paper will not print any personal information, just the selections made on the ballot.
The VVPAT will be connected to the back of the voting machine. Only 300 votes can be printed on the roll of paper available in this election.
VanDeMark said one printer has been programmed for each of the 12 Vote Centers currently available in the Primary Election which has been moved to June 2.
