Culver’s Stellar Community Designation projects are still moving forward.
Although all of the town’s facilities are closed to the public, Michiana Contracting is completing work on the newly remodeled Culver Beach Lodge. Town Manager Jonathan Leist mentioned in his report submitted to the Culver Town Council last week that several punch list items were reviewed and a certificate of occupancy may be issued in the next few days.
The work on the building was to be complete by the end of March to satisfy grant funding requirements for the project. That requirement was met.
Work has resumed on the Cavalier Sports Park. That project was also expected to be complete by the end of March, but town officials have requested an extension on the completion date.
The Cavalier Sports Park project includes improvements to the soccer fields on the grounds of the Culver Community School Corporation, expanding the parking lots, moving the storm water retention pond to the east, building a restroom facility near the fields, adding a toddler park, and a walking trail on the perimeter of the park. The town received a $500,000 grant to cover the cost of the project as part of Culver’s Stellar Communities Designation.
