The John Glenn School Board members were recently presented with some information from a thorough building assessment report from architecture firm Barton Coe Vilamaa.
Superintendent Christopher Winchell said they met with Business Manager Tom Bendy and Maintenance Director Shelby Gibson about what they found in terms of immediate building needs. Roofing and blacktop projects rank the highest on the priority list
“Their review of our facilities just reiterates the fact that those two are very high priorities,” stated Winchell. “They’ve even suggested that we may even seek a little additional expert advice on our roofing needs and our blacktop needs.”
A more updated price on blacktop materials will be given to the board.
Winchell said not all of the roofing repairs are expected to be done this year.
“They’ve got a couple of recommendations of some roofing experts that we may partner with and have them come and do an even deeper review of our roofs than what Barton Coe Vilamaa is capable of doing just to get us the right plan of what’s most important now.”
More details will be provided to the board before any decisions are made.
Any decisions on roofing or blacktop are anticipated to be paid for from General Obligation Bonds sold in anticipation of several items outlined in the Capital Projects Plan.
