John Glenn School Board Members Recognize Student Achievement

The four John Glenn School principals spoke of great achievements of students during the school board meeting this week.

North Liberty Elementary School Principal Randy Romer highlighted the students who participated in the Science Fair while Walkerton Elementary School Principal Tim Davis commended the students who participated in the Science Fair, ISSMA Solo and Ensemble contest, and the 5th and 6th grade choir who sang the National Anthem during the Homecoming game at the high school last week.

At Urey Middle School, the students who participated in the ISSMA Solo and Ensemble contest were brought to the limelight and High School Principal William Morton congratulated students who won Scholastic Writing Awards.  They will participate in a national competition.

Several students won awards from the Scholastic Fine Arts competition. Morton noted that the Regional Scholastic Art and Writing Awards competition receives work from students in 18 counties with three of those being in Michigan.   About 450 entries are granted into the competition and John Glenn students brought home 38 awards from this event.

In addition, Trinity Hess and Salem Slater each received a $17,500 scholarship to the American Academy of Art after competing for those scholarships at the American Academy of Art in Chicago.

The school board members congratulated the students on superior work and encouraged all to continue doing great work at the corporation.
