The John Glenn School Board considered moving up a bus purchase this week to replace an aging mini bus on the fleet.
Superintendent Christopher Winchell said a mini bus is available to purchase now without having to be put on the current waiting list. He said it is a 2018 floor model and needs to be out of the inventory.
This new bus will replace a special purpose bus that has been in operation for 20 years and has run its course.
Business Manager Tom Bendy commented that this purchase falls in line with the corporation’s Bus Replacement Plan with the purchase of two other mini buses and a large school bus later this year.
The school board members approved Transportation Director Marie Fansler’s request to purchase the bus in the amount of $50,559 with a $500 trade-in value of a bus.
