The number of students at Bremen Public Schools appears to be declining, according to recent Average Daily Membership count.
Bremen Public School Superintendent Dr. Jim White said the 2018 count in September had the corporation at 1,492. In February of 2019, Dr. White said the corporation gained 7 students. However, the numbers showed a steep decline this school year.
“In the Fall this year, we lost 29 students from that September number, and then in our second count in February this year we’re down 45. That’s 45 students over the course of a year and we want to make sure we address that trend,” stated Dr. White.
Dr. White said he’s been looking deeper into the numbers to dissect the mobilization of students.
“A lot of students are just moving to different areas, but we don’t want enrollment to drop too much because we want to keep offering the same offerings we have for our students. It’s important to have a healthy student population to be able to do that.”
To help address the declining enrollment, the school board approved advertising dollars to be spent to attract students to the school corporation.
