The Argos Community School Board members are working to get everything finalized for a solar energy project.
Superintendent Ned Speicher said the solar project was approved along with the roofing project last year. He explained that the solar panels will be installed on top of the roofs of the corporation.
“The solar is actually going on top of the roofs of the auditorium and the main gyms,” explained Speicher. “It’s actually a State of Indiana Guaranteed Energy Savings Project where we’re guaranteed so much savings over the next 20 years. It’s to help reduce our utility costs. It’s going to be very cost effective.”
He said the project will also include an education component.
“We’re actually putting curriculum in with renewable energy and green energy because there’s going to be a lot of jobs in that in the future. We’re tying that into our solar project.”
Speicher said the installation of the solar project will begin this spring.
