Argos School Board Adds Lacrosse as Offering to Athletes

The sport of Lacrosse will now be offered as a sport at the Argos Community School Corporation instead of only a club sport.

Superintendent Ned Speicher said there was plenty of support toward the move at the school board meeting Monday night.

“We had quite a few students there and we had coaches and parents there,” said Speicher.  “The school board did approve that where starting this spring Lacrosse will be a regular Argos sport along with our other sports.  It made a lot of students and coaches happy!”

On top of that, the school board accepted a recommendation to enter into an athletic conference.

Speicher added, “We’ve not been in a conference for several years. It’s called the Hoosier Plains Athletic Conference.  It will begin operation with Argos sports, all except Lacrosse because we’re the only school with Lacrosse, but for other sports that conference will begin next fall.”

Speicher added that the school corporation is looking to hire a part-time athletic director.  Current Athletic Director and Dean of Students Jon Alcorn is resigning from the athletic director position at the end of June, but he will continue in a teaching position next school year.
