Two people are accused of stealing items from cars, according to information released from the Bourbon Police Department.
On Wednesday Jan. 22, the report states an officer with the Bourbon Police Department spotted a suspicious vehicle in the Family Dollar parking lot at 3:20 a.m. A short time later, the officer reportedly spotted two people get into the vehicle. The officer attempted a traffic stop, but the driver refused to stop and drove to a residence in town, according to the report.
Police say the suspects were detained and the officer learned that items found inside the vehicle were taken out of other vehicles in town.
The driver, Jared B. Weiss of Rochester, was arrested and booked into the Marshall County Jail on preliminary charges of burglary, resisting law enforcement, theft, and illegal possession of a syringe. The passenger, Andrew M. Taylor of Bourbon, was also arrested and booked into the Marshall County Jail on preliminary charges of burglary and theft. Both have a cash bond of $1,505.
The Bourbon Police Department urges residents to lock vehicles and homes to protect belongings and for safety.
Suspects are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
