The Triton School Corporation hosted a ‘Community Wellness Night’ earlier this month in order to inform parents and community members about the dangers of vaping.
Superintendent Jeremy Riffle reports that school officials are coordinating with Purdue Extension Health Educator Brittney Schori in order to create a video that will allow community members to access the some of the valuable information provided during the event.
He explained, “We want to make sure that the message is pinpointed and specific to what our kids and parents need to hear.”
In addition to creating this informative video, officials took action to address concerns by installing vape-detectors in restrooms.
Superintendent Riffle previously shared that the devices are similar to smoke detectors but they detect the substance that vaporizers emit. An alert then goes out to administrators and includes which bathroom the substance was detected in, what time it was detected and the concentration levels.
