The process will begin for the annexation of property north of U.S. 6 in the town of Bremen for a solar park proposed by the Indiana Municipal Power Agency (IMPA).
Bremen Town Attorney Anthony Wagner said the process will be done in two phases, but the Indiana Department of Transportation is involved which could make the procedure a little difficult. Wagner said INDOT previously indicated that they wouldn’t help the project, but wouldn’t hurt it either. Wagner asked for help in persuading INDOT to approve movement in the project. A petition is needed to start annexation with INDOT’s signature.
Electric Superintendent Jay Stoneburner said IMPA asked the town council to move forward with the annexation, as well as consider a tax abatement when the time comes and zoning help for the project.
The Bremen Town Council members unanimously voted to support the project and to proceed with the annexation.
