Plymouth School Board Holds Hearing Over Superintendent’s Contract

The Plymouth School Board held a public hearing over Superintendent Andy Hartley’s contract when members met last week.

School Board President Todd Samuelson discussed why the hearing was being held.

He noted, “By state law, we are required to hold a public hearing at least 10 days before the board takes action on the superintendent’s contract.”

Samuelson went on to provide some details about the proposed contract.

He explained, “The board is recommending that the superintendent remain on a three year contract from July 1, 2019 through and including June 30, 2022.”

Samuelson continued, “The superintendent will receive a raise to his base salary in the amount of $1,400. This the same amount that was approved for other administrators and was the minimum amount approved to teachers through our negotiated agreement this year.

One question regarding the superintendent’s personal contribution to his own health care plan was posed and while Hartley didn’t have the exact answer, he did note that there were no changes from last year’s policy. He added that would work on getting the requested information to the individual who asked the question.

No further questions or comments were provided. President Samuelson said Hartley’s contract will be up for official consideration at the school board’s meeting in February.
