Plymouth School Board Approves Reoccurring Transfer Resolution

When the Plymouth School Board met for their first meeting of the month, members considered a transfer resolution.

Treasurer Kandy Tinkey reminded board members that after House Bill 10-09 required all school corporations to due away with the old budgeting system and to establish an education fund and operations fund.

She informed them while they have complied, all funds received from the state must be placed in the education fund which can potentially lead to a deficit in the operations fund.

In order to help keep the operations fund from going into the negative, Tinkey recommended passing a resolution that would authorize a monthly transfer of $233,333 from the education fund. She noted it would result in a yearly total of approximately $2.8 million that would be taken out of the education fund and put into the operations fund.

The resolution received unanimous support from the board members and was passed.
