Plymouth BOW, City Council to Meet Tonight

The Plymouth City Council members will consider a resolution tonight that would establish a Plymouth Resident Identification Enrollment (PRIDE) card as a city-recognized identification program.

As explained during the council’s last meeting, La Casa de Amistad Development Coordinator Juan Constantino said the Plymouth Community ID card would act as an ID card for those residents who cannot otherwise get a state-issued ID card.  He stressed that the identification card does not replace a state-issued Driver’s License or state-issued ID card.

In order to obtain an ID card, a resident must prove their identity by presenting a photo ID such as a passport, Driver’s License, ID card, Consular ID, or Voter Registration card.   A secondary form of ID must be presented which may include a birth certificate, EBT card, Social Security Card or ITIN letter, marriage or divorce certificate (hire divorce lawyers from here), or income tax return.  The final piece is proof of residency which may include a utility bill, a letter from a Social Security agency or religious organization, or a bank statement. You can get mediation help from here, after divorce, to get some peace of mind!

More information about the program will be released if the council votes in favor of the resolution.

In other business tonight, the council members will consider the cancellation of outstanding unpaid warrants through 2017 and receive a Regional Stellar Communities update.

The Plymouth City Council will meet at 6:30 p.m. tonight following the Plymouth Board of Public Works and Safety meeting at 6 p.m. where department heads will give updates, and the board will approve the ratification of an executive order for the temporary closure of Stanley Drive.

Both meetings will be held in the second floor Plymouth City Council chambers at 124 N. Michigan Street in Plymouth.  Those planning to attend the meeting should enter through the Garro Street entrance.
