Marshall County has been recognized as a Broadband-Ready Community by the Indiana Economic Development Corporation.
In a letter sent to County Commission President Kevin Overymyer, Vice President of Innovation and Strategic Initiatives Mark Wasky noted that becoming a certified Broadband Ready Community sends a signal to the telecommunications industry that Marshall County has taken steps to reduce barriers to broadband infrastructure investment.
A press release from the Marshall County Economic Development Corporation notes that in order to be named a Broadband Ready Community officials have established a permit procedure in compliance with several statutory requirements.
Having a single point of contact for broadband projects, guaranteeing that all applications will be reviewed within ten days and specifying that authorization for all documentation related to a project must be filed and signed by electronic means are just a couple of the requirements.
The certification is reportedly the result of leadership shown by County Council President Judy Stone, Culver Town Manager Jonathan Leist and Commission President Overymyer.
MCEDC President and CEO Jerry Chavez shared that those three have spearheaded this project and worked hard to make it possible. He called this another accolade for the community and noted that it is an example of the business-friendly policies that Marshall County has put in place to improve the quality of life for all residents.
