Bremen Town Council to Look into Cyber Security

Bremen Town Attorney Anthony Wagner urged the town council members to look into adding cyber security to the town’s insurance coverage.

Wagner said it’s especially important to protect the town’s utilities after speaking with Water, Storm Water, and Street Superintendent Alex Mikel.

“I think it’s required for him,” noted Wagner.  “My concern is if someone basically infects your computers and freezes the clerk’s office, what do you do?  Are you prepared?  It’s Ransomware.”

He noted there are steps being taken with the water utility, but it should cover the town’s operations.

The council members agreed that it’s important and the town’s insurance agent will be contacted with a proposal to be considered in a future meeting.
