The Bremen Parks Department can move forward with two projects following action by the Bremen Town Council Monday morning.
Bremen Park Superintendent Brian Main explained that one project would involve replacing the roof on the varsity softball concession stand. The cost would be around $5,000 to replace the roof and rafters with the addition of soffit.
Another project would involve the renovation of the JC building.
“The Boy Scouts used to occupy a large portion of that building for storage and their meetings. They have disbanded and created an opportunity there in part of that room to expand the restrooms. German Township will throw in $3,000 for the project. We would make those restrooms handicapped accessible. We would give them a little more room to move around in there instead of the current situation,” explained Main.
Main said he’d assist with labor and demolition to keep the cost to about $13,000.
He added that the building is used quite a bit with rentals every weekend throughout the summer so that project would make it a nicer facility. It also helps keeps the town ADA compliant with its facilities.
Main asked the council for support for the project with a cost not to exceed $15,000 in addition to the roofing project at $5,000. The council unanimously voted in two motions to allow Main to proceed with both projects.
