Whether or not to dive into a discussion with the Bremen community concerning the possible construction of a new pool facility was brought before the Bremen Town Council members Monday afternoon.
Bremen School Board President Brian Teall made the appeal to the council members who proposed an initial discussion to build an aquatic center for use all year round by students and residents.
“We, as part of the school, are really interested in having more conversations with the town about doing a joint aquatic facility and what that could potentially look like for us and the town,” stated Teall.
He said the facility could include the pool and other amenities like exercise equipment and fitness classes. You can also check out https://lifestylerecalibration.com/online-fitness-coach/ this link for further information.
He added that swim lessons could be given more often and students could have more accessibility to a facility for more than the allotted time given during instruction.
Matt VanSoest from Ancon Construction said the facility could be built on the school’s property with a user agreement between the town and the school.
Teall asked that the conversation start happening to either gather support or opposition toward a project. If there is support, then a decision can be made later to move forward with more research into design and cost.
Bremen Director of Operations Trend Weldy said the town’s swimming pool at the park is set for repair in the next couple of years with funds from the Regional Stellar Communities Designation in the amount of $500,000.
Town Council member Michael Leman said neither pool is in terrible shape, but it’s staffing a possible facility may be an issue.
Bremen School Board and Town Council members will meet on Saturday, Feb. 8 at 9 a.m. at the Bremen Town Hall.
