Triton Superintendent Jeremy Riffle recently shared that officials are looking into the possibility of having a student appointed to the Bourbon Town Council as a non-voting member.
When discussing the corporation’s core value of accountability during the most recent school board meeting, Riffle discussed this hypothetical idea and identified why it’s being considered.
He said there are a few main reasons for this suggestion. One is to allow the student to learn about town governments and local municipalities and another is to represent the Triton student body and the younger generation within the community and help come up with creative ideas involving youth.
No definitive decisions have been reached about this possibility and it’s currently just an informal idea that was highlighted by Superintendent Riffle when school officials met last Monday.
