Plymouth City Council Considers Ordinance Amending Fuel Policy for Department of Aviation

The Plymouth City Council members considered additional readings of an ordinance that amends fuel pricing for the Department of Aviation.

Plymouth Municipal Airport Manager Bill Sheley said jet fuel was set a price at a specific amount in a previous ordinance and was found to be outdated.  Sheley said the Plymouth Board of Aviation members took action to amend the ordinance for the council’s consideration.

“I asked for a little bit more leeway and they actually made a motion and voted and gave me more leeway than what I asked for with this ordinance,” said Sheley.  “It’s just making it so we can get more competitive to surrounding airports with our mark-up.”

Sheley went on to say that fuel sales at the Plymouth Municipal Airport are breaking records.

“Every month for the last six months, we’ve been record or near-record fuel sales over the last 10 years.  This last November we ended up with 3,700 gallons for the month. Our previous record month in the last 10 years was 2,700 gallons.”

The Plymouth City Council members voted unanimously to approve the second and third readings of the ordinance.
