A recent overnight traffic stop on Friday, Nov. 29 allegedly found a Mishawaka man in possession of a firearm and drugs in Marshall County.
Marshall County officers conducted the traffic stop in the area of U.S. 30 and Michigan Road on Friday where drugs and a loaded firearm were reportedly found in the possession of the driver, 26-year-old Travis McClurg.
Police say McClurg was under the influence of a controlled substance at the time of the traffic stop. He was reportedly taken to the hospital for a certified test.
McClurg was arrested on a preliminary felony charge of legend drug deception and misdemeanor charges of operating a vehicle while intoxicated with a prior conviction, operating a vehicle while intoxicated endangering a person, operating a vehicle while intoxicated with a controlled substance, and possession of marijuana. Police indicate that additional formal charges may be filed. He has since bonded out of the Marshall County Jail.
Suspects are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
