A Tyner woman died in a single-vehicle accident in Marshall County Friday night.
According to Marshall County Coroner John Grolich, 40-year-old Shelby Erin Gaines was pronounced dead at the scene at 8:20 p.m. after her vehicle was found off of the road on Plymouth-LaPorte Trail around 7th Road.
Grolich said Gaines was not wearing a seatbelt and was ejected from the vehicle. He added that it appears she may have been distracted as she was apparently texting while driving. She was the only occupant inside the vehicle.
No other details of the crash are available at this time.
The next of kin has been notified.
The accident remains under investigation with the Marshall County Sheriff’s Department. The Plymouth Fire Department and Lyons Towing Service assisted at the scene.
